Tour departs at 9.30 and you will be collected from your hotel prior to departure time.
Our first stop is the best view point overlooking Goreme Village, The Goreme Panorama, where you will receive information about the rich history of Cappadocia and the unique rock formations. After the panoramic view point we drive about 1 hour and visit a volcanic lake (Nar Lake). After the spectecular view of the lake we drive to Guzelyurt, where Gregory of Nazianzus lived in. A historically large Greek population existed in the area until the 1923 population exchange, when they were replaced with the Turks from Thessaloniki and Kavala. Our next stop will be Guzelyurt underground city which shows clear signs of later reuse with tandir ovens cut into the ground for cooking, but its most famous feature is its squat toilet, isolated along a narrow corridor and the only such convenience so far identified in the underground cities.
After departing Guzelyurt, we will drive further south to the magnificent verdant Ihlara Valley. We will have lunch in Ihlara Village. After the lunch we walk alongside the Melindiz River for about 2 hours which winds its way through the Ihlara gorge. After hiking in Ihlara Valley we will drive back to Goreme.
